Responsibilities

  • • Course Co-coordinator of Surgery II & Surgery IV courses for MBBS students. Surgery II course consist of upper & lower GI, hepatobiliary & pancreas, and breast & endocrine. Surgery IV courses consists of revision of all 3 surgery courses (principles of surgery, general surgery, urology, neurosurgery, vascular surgery & cardiothoracic surgery). The responsibilities include lectures, bedside sessions, tutorials, and designing, implementing & organizing the course, & planning, preparing & conducting of written & practical assessment. • Faculty member in following courses: Surgery I & III, Professional Skill 1 & 2, Practice of medicine, Emergency Medicine & Traumatology, & General Surgery for Dentistry. • Facilitator in Foundation module of Problem Based Learning. • Course advisor for the GIT block of Problem Based Learning. • Education Coordinator to care general surgery teaching activities at affiliated teaching hospitals, King Khalid Hospital (run by Ministry of Health) & Military Hospital (run by Ministry of Defense). The responsibilities include coordinating & delivering clinical placements and scheduling teaching at these Hospitals. • Mentoring a group of 6 students all the year. • Member of Medical education committee for continuing professional development courses, and curriculum review, design and implentation. • Actively participating in different research & scholarship programs, including referring students to appropriate scholarship opportunity, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research. • Head of exam (assessment) committee for the all the courses run by dept. of Surgery. • Supervision of clinical activities of dept. of Surgery & performing duties as Specialist Surgery in University Hospital.
