Course Catalog Description

This course deals with liquid and semi-solid pharmaceutical dosage forms to help students understand the underlying concepts, the types of dosages forms, methods of preparations, rationales of uses, applications, advantages and drawbacks.

 The course includes pharmaceutical solutions, pharmaceutical suspensions, pharmaceutical emulsions, colloidal systems, liposomal and nano-particles preparations, aerosols, ointments, creams, gels and pastes.

The main aim of the course is to develop an understanding of the pre-formulation, design, formulation, manufacture and evaluation of a number of liquid and semi-solid dosage forms by applying the fundamental physicochemical principles introduced in PHT 224.
