Dr Khan did his Master degree in 1985 from the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan (Pakistan) in Applied Mathematics with distinction. He Started his teaching carrier in November 1986 from the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan (Pakistan) as a lecturer in applied mathematics.
Dr Khan earned his Ph.D. from the department of Mathematics, University of Bradford, England in 1995 in the field of Numerical Optimization with title of theses "Some Applications of Optimization Methods".
Dr Khan has a vast teaching and research experience of more than 31 years in different institutions, like Bahauddin zakariya University, Multan (year 1986-2000), Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (year 2000 to 2004), NFC Institute of engineering and Technology, Multan (year 2004-2010) and then in the current Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Al Kharj (from year 2010 -todate).
He has published more than 20 research papers in well reputed international Journals. His research activities are in the fiels of Optimization, Survival Analysis, Reliability and Applied Statistics.
