Introduction: Three-Phase Lap Windings (Single Layer - Double Layer), EMF equation, MMF equation and waveforms, Distribution and Chording factors. Three-Phase Synchronous Machines: Cylindrical and Salient pole machines, Equivalent circuit, Parameters determination, Parallel operation. Three-Phase Induction Machines: Squirrel cage and slip ring machines, Equivalent circuit, Speed Control. Small AC single-phase Machines: Stepper motors, Universal machines, ... etc.

Also they can deduce the overall formula of the induced EMF and MMF per phase. This course supports the objective of producing graduates with a strong foundation in basic science. 77
2 .  2 . (C) an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. Through the different techniques of winding, the students can figure the number of poles as well as the flux waveforms. Also the students can design the coil span with respect to the pole pitch by certain angle “Chording Angle” in order to eliminate certain harmonic. Also the student can change the rotor resistance of the 3-phase induction motor in order to control the starting torque and current. Moreover, the students can control the excitation of the synchronous machines in order to determine the load power factor. 23
